Summer Style With 1970’s Style Maxi Dress – Scandi Style
This sweet minty blue maxi dress is a new second hand treasure for the summer 2019. It has a flair of 1970’s boho and combined with a wide brimmed summer hat makes a statement summer look.
Second-hand treasures
Sustainable fashion is very close to our hearts and much of our wardrobes are built around second hand and vintage pieces. This pale blue summer dress is one of this summer’s new additions. It actually came to via my sister’s new family – more precisely from her boyfriend’s mother. Thank you very much for this, Sirpa!
Perhaps a retro dress – perhaps not?
I fell in love with the dress very quickly. I don’t know the exact age of the dress – it’s made in China according to the label by the brand Lily. This sounds very modern, but the dress sports snaps by the side which is more typical to retro pieces. The fabric is a mix of polyester and viscose, but the feel is very cotton-like. The dress is unlined and the front has a cut that reminds me of some maternity gowns although there’s really not that much space so it could be just a style choice. Little mystery that one. I think I need to ask around about the history of this dress.
The hat is a piece from H&M years back. I found it again this summer after moving and it has been a wonderful help with the sun. Together with the dress they make a quite dramatic summer look – I love it!
The maxi dress – second hand piece with the brand name Lilly. Year ?
Hat – H&M 2009
The pictures were taken at the end of long day after some meetings and I felt totally knackered. Still, felt great in the dress and hat and actually had gotten some compliments for the look earlier that day. 🙂 Compliments really feels nice and I think we should give them more freely to each others, right?
